I believe in the grid having the ability to evoke real feelings of contentment, authority and perpetuity, as it simultaneously creates a ground for play.

Exploring themes of assimilation and translation, satisfaction, as well as the concept of art as an act of play, my work functions as an art object as well as a tool for my own efforts of self recognition and preservation.

In an ongoing exploration of “the grid” and self,  I look to better understand myself through the ways I instinctively or calculatedly interact with the self applied limitations of a grid, as well as how I work within those limitations to keep myself grounded. This is an act of introspection, play, problem solving, and admiration. These artworks create new ways of interpreting a spatially- gridded surface. Each surface is a chunk of space and time where one makes sense of data, form, materials, and color.
